WATCHYOURHOME.NET is the brainchild of Sandra Gaskin,
a Spainish holiday home owner. When Sandra bought her property in
Spain she did all the right things, she installed an alarm wired directly
to a monitoring centre who would send the local police to her apartment if the alarm went off and this they did diligently, but only after contacting her and requesting permission. However if it was in the middle of the night she might not get back to them for hours, which made her very unpopular with some of her near neighbours as the siren was running all night. (It is important to mention that although the alarm went off a couple of times a year no one ever broke in.)

She then contacted her keyholder who would go and deactivate the alarm. Although she wasn’t renting the apartment she noticed little things such as cutlery or glasses missing. Friends of hers wanted to join her and her family so she arranged for them to rent the penthouse in her block. Months later she met the owners of the penthouse and informed them of how much her friends enjoyed their apartment, the owners were somewhat bewildered as their apartment was not available for rent and they weren't aware that anyone had been in their apartment.

Sandra did eventually decide to rent and appointed the most reputable agents in the area. She did, occasionally, receive some rental revenue but very little. However on one occasion she gave her keys to a friend who wanted to spend a week in spain. She didn't advise the agents and when her friend turned up there were 6 people in the apartment, without her knowledge.

Upon questioning friends and neighbours with property in various parts of spain she realised that many of them had similar experiences or at least felt very uncomfortable about what might be happening in their absence, even if they weren’t renting their property.

As sandra loves spain and everything about it she decided to stick with it and put her concerns behind her. However as she decided to move in 2006 she was determined to not only protect her investment but also wanted peace of mind when she wasn't in her holiday home. Thus she began to research how she could monitor her spanish home from her home in Ireland and after 14 months of questions and answers, trial and error, watchyourhome.net was born.

The directors are from Ireland and the UK. They bring technical and communications expertise to the company. Our spanish based director is Steve Clifford, originally from Bristol Steve has vast experience in the area of internet development and IT based cctv solutions. He is Microsoft and Cisco certified and is a qualified home technology integration specialist. All Steve’s team are from Ireland or the UK and speak english and spanish.
